Köln

I was in Cologne for a day and had a quick and fantastic tour of the city.

A good German tour is three things: fascinatingly thorough, bitter cold, walking involved.

The Bridge of Love Locks.

Walking into the city from the bridge, the cathedral is impressive - the most visited site in Germany.

Inside the Cathedral Gerhard Richter's stained glass window shimmers. Photographed here nicely.

There's a saying, 'when the Cologne cathedral is finished, the world will come to an end'. . . .

A sign for the famous Cologne No. 4711.

Amazing metal work details at sunset.

A mosaic dining room floor from the Roman times. That was once ground level in Cologne.

Middle of January, but the Cologne residents are always up for a good time.

Happy New Year

Here are a few miscellaneous sketches that have been keeping me happy lately.

My lovely apartment building in Gießen.

A fun shelving solution in a cafe in Frankfurt.

I love the contrast between old and new one often sees in Europe.

The entrance to my favorite macaroon spot in Germany, a neon orange arrow directs one 'in'.

They keep it fun with a lawn chair and streamers in the windows.
