Jessica Helgerson

I am finally brave enough to try sketching Interiors...

I pick a designer whose work I admire and attempt to re-create it through a sketch.

Sketching a picture gives me the chance to see things the eye misses at first glance..

This week, its Oregon-based Interior Designer Jessica Helgerson

Her work is geometric and composed with thoughtful placement of pieces, playing with adjacencies.

She does lots of residential work, with a focus on neutrals and nature . . .

A kitchen full of woodwork and cabinets that look into the adjacent dining seen in the below picture...

Thanks!

European-Sized House.

If I lived in Oregon, I would love to work for interior designer Jessica Helgerson

Her and her family of four live in this refurbished farm house...

with beautiful views to the outside farm land.

They keep it simple, reading books instead of watching TV.

. . . and they sleep in the loft space above the bookshelf.

what a great example of making the most of the space you have.

you can see a fantastic article on this house, including floor plans to really get a sense for how SMALL it is, here.

Büdingen

I always find unique corners and details when we travel to new places.

. . .  discovering detailed works of craftsmanship...

that have been there for ages...

. . . and speak to the place's past.

Look at this stool built into the stonework. . .

thanks for looking!

Summer Sketches

Being that it is September 1st, I guess its time to post the last of my summer sketches...

Green trees move in the breeze...

Traditional German Architecture houses a local 'Kur' center..

its a center where outpatients go for wellness.

Someone in Vienna got married under this archway...

we enjoyed beers on a lake in the middle of Frankfurt..

and coffee in the garden of a dance hall in Berlin..

where people also got cool near a fountain. . .

and the vibrant colors really fit in.

cya, summer. its been fun!
