Vienna, Austria Sketches

Vienna is not only great for music, but architecture as well.

The Austrian Architect Hundertwasser has a few buildings scattered around Vienna..

His work is so fun to sketch because rarely do you see a straight line.

The Pharmacies are charming with shelving systems from the past and hold pricey remedies..

Stairs are grandiose. . .

These here had an interesting pattern at the top; a nod to its use as an art museum.

Art Nouveau style buildings are all over Vienna. . . .

. . .as are beautiful Catholic Churches.

Every good day ends with a ferris wheel ride...

We had a great time...

Vienna, Austria Photos

Here are my observations from Vienna, Austria. A beautiful city...

The local Apotheke has a humorous way of creating with empty Pill Containers.

Sketches from me to come from this Architect, Hundertwasser's Work. In the building itself, the floor was uneven. Here is his explanation why... such an artist.

Chai tea at the Nasch Market.

Lederhosen for sale at the flea market.

adorable.

amazing food as well at the 'Nasch' Market.

St. Charles Church's dome frescoes were recently renovated..

...and they kept up the scaffolding and elevator that was put in place to execute the work...

...so that tourists could also enjoy the experience of being up close with these historical paintings.

The thing did start to sway when we got up there... but we made it down ok.

A window ledge at the very top. Great place for an offering.

Of course schnitzel is big. We had ours at the Austrian version of Denny's restaurant.

We ended our trip with a concert at the Orangery, part of the Schönbrunn Mansion where Mozart himself once played.

France... Part two

We did a fair amount of sight seeing in Provence..

and visited local farmer's markets. This one was tucked behind a winding gravel road. .

Little tiny Streets that wind and have such history (Picture courtesy of my father-in-law)

He took amazing photos of our vacation home..

Including our little cottage that was off to the side of the main property..

and housed our new purchases. I liked the writing desk.

This kitchen was my favorite spot in the house.  Note the old ice chest converted into a fridge.

We didnt eat in here because the terrace dining was so nice this time of year.

Corner seating. Pool towels.

Pieces, like this old door, really made it feel like we had stepped back in time for a week.

Indirect lighting heightens the drama of the stone wall in the master bath.

This bedroom was once a stall for animals.. hence the water trough in the background.

The bedroom doors open directly onto this terrace

Big barn doors that close the property off from the quiet farm road and vineyards beyond.

This piece had tons of wood engraving that reminded me of Morocco.

I liked how our pool's water color was natural and fit to the setting.

ah.. to be back in Provence!

Wanderung

My husband's uncle celebrated his 50th Birthday by hiking with 30 people . . .

in the beautiful mountains of the Harz Area in Lower Saxony.

We saw charming Architecture along the way... love the red flowers against the green details..

. . . and took time to have lunch and rest a bit in these lounge chairs watching wildlife pass by..

I had to capture this old fireplace. I especially like its tile-work.

We kept walking... and then had the best Apple Strudel at this little mountain top cafe. . .

where they sold garden owls!

of course I wanted one...

but they were too heavy to take along on our 11 Km hike..

so I took their info down for later..

Note to make a walk-way like this in my garden someday..

all the hills really made this cafe charming..

Here there was equality for all that are thirsty..

I am always amazed at the craftsmanship in Germany..

we saw one of these today.. a real one. . .

'A people that cannot nourish themselves is not worth being called a Nation.'

The locals were getting a little crazy..

who wouldn't with this adorable bench as a shot glass holder?!

it was nice..
