Im Zug

Riding on the train to work, I have the chance to briefly peek into other worlds.

The trees this time of year are so vibrant, yet still the grass really green.

Images stream like and un-edited motion picture.

The green tinted windows and blue painted design give life to this old factory.

Lots of buildings along the way have graffiti that can enhance the landscape.

Shipping containers stacked along the Main River.

I would love to sit on those steps and enjoy the afternoon sun.

We made it to work!

I am working on-site at this beautiful building for a few weeks. Frankfurt's sky scrapers have a little more room to breathe than other cities I have experienced. Here they integrated the adjacent historic villas nicely.

Schwarz und Wieß

Chocolate Store Paris, France

Glauberg, Germany Celtic museum.

Study of Paris' famous Metro entrances.

Berlin, Germany

in der Stadt

Gießen isnt known for being the most beautiful of all German cities, but you can find a lot of beauty here.

This house really is this blue. Its detailing is very Art Nouveau.

This german-style house that would be completely normal looking sans the green shutters.

A typical corner street house in the city.

The circle details around the windows intrigued me. They are carved right into the stucco.

The tiny balconies up above and with flowers all throughout the year. The building is, of all things, a vet clinic.

Our local theater side door. One of the oldest buildings in Gießen.

Paris, je t'aime

There is just something about Paris...

the chocolates...

Macarons....

architecture...

books on the street....

windy paths with French wine tastings...

exquisite door design. . .

and galleries tucked away...

with billowing pots of lavender

Schrebergärten

On the train every morning on the way to work, I admire the tiny clusters of garden communities that dot the train tracks amidst the fields and windmills.

They serve as an outdoor retreat to the Frankfurt city dwellers.

The homes are tiny. I am tempted to call them sheds . . .but a bit cozier than that and each one with a real homemade feel.

This past summer the bountiful sunflowers and teeming apple trees looked like such an inviting and break from the business of the bustling city.

They are not to be confused with Bier Gardens, such as this. . .

but it is another nice place to watch the sun set with some Apple Wine.

Betriebsausflug

It is very common for big firms in Germany to treat their employees to a day of sight seeing with prolly a hope that the co workers will bond and work better together.

We spent a day at a Celitc museum in a little town called Glauberg whose structure was beautifully thought out to fit into its rural surroundings.

You appreciate the building even more once you attempt to sketch it. Here is the view of the building...

We ate lunch at a great little restaurant with lots of red stone and fall decorations.

I now understand the hype over
Crème brûlée....

Sunflowers, Pumpkins, it is fall!

I love window sills and find myself often sketching them. We ate lunch below this sill.

We finished the day with a hearty two hour walk. Followed by a Ratler in a beer garden.

Happy Fall!
